2023 Toyota GR Corolla Model Review

This is the new Toyota Corolla Gr Sport with a new body kit revised suspension and a promise of a more driver engaged feel is this now the c-segment saloon. Everybody still going to buy an SUV anyway we're going to take a very quick walk around to take a look at Toyota's new sporty sedan. This is a quick preview of the new 2023 Toyota Corolla gr sport.

Thank you now as with any transition from a mass market model to a GR Sport model. There are some changes both aesthetic as well as under the skin. But we'll get to that a little bit later as you walk up the car you'll notice a slightly more menacing face you have a wider Grille here.

A Wider lower grille plus a darker insert for the LED headlights down the side you'll find 18-inch alloy wheels done up in Black wrapped in Dunlop SP Sport Max Tires again to improve grip you get these lovely black door mirror caps as well as a body kit that goes all the way around at the rear you also get a reprofiled rear bumper with a new rear lower diffuser again to help improve aerodynamics again as part of the sporty nature of this car.

Now the changes that you can't see are related to the suspension so there is new suspension tuning front and rear as well as a new rear stabilizer bar this is a similar change. As we've seen from the Vos Jr sport which means that this car should promise a pretty solid Drive what hasn't changed however is what's under the Bonnet so it's still a 1.8 liter naturally aspirated engine mated to a CVT automatic gearbox and power going to the front wheels that said however. there may be a change in throttle mapping because Toyota didn't tell us about the Vos GR Sport.

So then maybe may not be telling us about this either the interior changes are mostly aesthetic as well you get now these GR Sport leather seats repeat with red stitching all the way around as well as red inserts around the shoulders and GR embossed on the headrest you get gr stitching or other bread stitching along the seats as well as the center armrest and even on the doors. Where you'll find some red trim here as well which work very well with the red stitched and badged GR Sport floor mats. You also get a slightly different steering wheel with leather wrapping and again more contrast stitching to make this car feel a little bit more sporty. You also get paddle shifters although that has been standard on the Corolla Altis from the very beginning speaking of which have you noticed that they've dropped the Altis badge for this model.

Now the thing about any Toyota is that GR or otherwise practicality is still a very important factor with this seat set up for a six footer this is not my driving position. I still have very good knee room Good Foot room and I have very good under thigh support there are also a couple of rear aircon vents. Here nothing has been compromised in the transition from the Corolla Altis to the Corolla GR Sport I even get an armrest in here repeat with a couple of cup holders and bottle holders in the doors now this interior does seem a little bit dark. But that is for the driver focus nature of the vehicle.

I would however, have appreciated a sunroof at the very least that said everything here does feel rather nice and of course as standard you get isofix mounts at the rear as well as this leather upholstery as standard and that practicality extends into the boot. Where you will find a pretty good amount of space and those rear seats fold 60 40. and for those of you who may be slightly concerned.

There is also underneath several layers in more layers a spare tire although this is a sporty variant. Toyota assures that you will still enjoy the same quality drivability and reliability that comes with any vehicle affixed with the Toyota badge. You of course get a 5 year warranty as standard as well as a service package although that does depend on whatever promotions there might be at the time now for those of you asking about the price the Toyota Corolla GR Sport is just a 5000 Ringgit premium over the 1.8 G that makes this not only the flagship Corolla Sport.
